One pretty busy semester this has been. Well, let me start from where i left, i.e July 2006. I had this great trip from with my family to Amritsar,Jaipur,Udaipur and Mr.Abu. The photos are here (be my frnd.) and here.

This sem, was very intricate in its own way.

  1. I couldn't concentrate on my studies whatsoever, and to that the added pressure the E&C ghissus were continuing from where they left last time.
  2. I had a lot of work to do, other than studies, which i never did regularly.

Okay, so now Thomso's going on, that's the hot thing happening on my side. Thomso's IIT Roorkee's cul fest. It's not better than cognizance, but some of its events, as i found out last year, were really interesting..At this point of time, I'm looking forward to the Face-Painting Competition and an Intel Workshop. We'll I'm not the person who's actually painting, i'm the canvas. And Sankalp sir is actually working on 'it'. Lucky, I've got him, he had already won a similar face-painting competition in hyderabad a few years ago. There's been a lot more participation this year. The main thing in any cul-fest is the participation. Even though all cul-fests of IITs are comparable, Thomso has been always 'blotched' by the fact that the participation has been always less, from other colleges, all these years, (and the age old 'Roorkee?, Never heard of it...Orrisa, right?', phenomenon has its implications). This year seems to be different.

I've being doing a lot more work this sem. I'm actively involved in NSS. So, I had to make this NSS website for them. Plus, add to it the plethora of meetings and Village trips to Teach the poor children..(hey, i kind of enjoy doing it...I've even added some of the Pictures to Yahoo Time Capsule!!!), and other kind of workshops.

Then, cause I'm in IMG, i've been doing this Faculty Recruitment application there, automated faculty application manager/web application stuff..started it on August 2nd week Beginning and was actually completed 2 weeks ago. But because the Asst. Registrar wanted this change, and hence i've been asked to revamp this particular cruical logic part, and that's going to take me a lot of time..

Then, I did this Faculty Response Thing, automating/created a web application for filling in the response of students about faculty, for a particular course, and intergrating it with regol..it's almost done . ( :) yups!!..And Mathew, thanx for the crucial part that I missed.)

I'm getting a lot of holidays out here. Dusshera, Diwali, Thomso,.. and I'm lovin' it.

Sleep Insomnia, is a problem I've been suffering lately. Yes, I've turned nocturnal. My avg 'going to bed' time this diwali hols is around 4:30 am.. Nightout's have become, of all a sudden, common...We'll its 5:12 am now, and I'm still awake...

That about sums my past three months.

Honey, i've just been tagged.

Before going to my next post, which was supposed to be a continuation of the previous one, let me do the loyalities, after being tagged by Arjun.
Well here it goes,

5 people who top your shit list..... and why:
1. Arjun Choudhary, Ist Year, P&I, IITR , cause of his over-dominating, ready-to-fight-always, with the simplest of feuds character.
2.All the guys of Ist year, who 'polyed' (don't know if the word exists) their way to Govind/Ravindra and left me in Ganga.
3.Ganguly for still having hopes..
4.Dhobiwala, for losing two dresses of mine.
5.Arjun Ramakrishnan, for tagging me, right just 2 weeks before end sems.

Close brushes with death/danger:
Not a very close one, but still worth mentioning.
When I was in 3rd std, on the way to the school bus-stop, the bus just sweered just inches past me, while i was crossing the main road. Close enough to take the odd out of a person.

5 Preferable modes of suicide, in descending order:
1.Too bad Arjun has already mentioned hara kiri, but still remains my first preference, as it is of Calvin's (of Calvin & Hobbe's)
2. Sleeping Pills
3. Assign some agency to kill me. They would have to make it all of a sudden, without my knowledge.
4.Pottasium cyanide, easy death

5 Guilty pleasures:
1.Too much comp gaming.
2.Spamming others!
3.Fantasising wild night dreams

2.The day before yesterday, when I ate my first morsel of chicken after 4 .5 months.
3.September 2nd, 2004, when i got qualified for ntse.
4.may 14th, 1988, i don't actually remember it, but it happens to be my birthday.
5.May 22, 2005 after jee, 3 whole months vacation, top of the world!

5 things you wish to forget:-
1.August 15th 2002, i hope the day is erased from my life.
2.The day, i was caught in school for not attending the morning assembly. This may sound stupid, but the actual fact is that, i was caught hiding inside the lowest shelf of the classroom cupboard!
3.All the days when i go for checking my eyesight.
4.All rumours related to me and this one particular girl, whom i hated because of this.
5.nothing else

5 really exotic dishes you have tried:
1.American Chopsuey, contained all nonveg items into one dish!
2.The kadai chicken i had day before yesterday.
3.Ice-cream soda
4.The rasam rice which i get after my family reunion
5.I v'e never tried this, but i like to really try this one particular type of dish i always see in tv, which is roasted lobster. Mouth waters at its sight also.

5 crushes/loves in your life... in chronological order (even initials or nicknames would do. Oh, no ID attempts or requests pleez):
1.A classmate of mine, but actually i kinda of wanted to be like her, and hence had a crush
2.M***** can't say really, my frnds know abt it
3. A low probability, but the first female to comment on this blog!,ha!

what i like/miss south india

the contents are very simple, i've got clear cut views about what i miss about south india, and what i thought about north india(next post), what came out to be true, and what did not, and went conversely.

This post is taking the general case called 'South India', which to me means only Cochin, where used to be, the whole of my life actually, then Chennai, my hometown. 'North India' means 95% roorkee, and 5% of the other places i have visited.

The first thing i miss is my family, which of course, doesn't limit to any south india, north india factors, so i'll just leave that part.

I miss SI food,
first and foremost. This craving in me, is ready to do anything, except spend a few 100 bucks to buy a good plate of non-veg food, easily available just 100mts outside the campus. And the bird-flu had no other good time to strike!, killing even the wee bit of the 'hoping against hope' of me.
And not to mention the normal veg food, sambhar, mmm, and upma, vada, a good dosai, and even idli's. So ironical, you know cause i still remember the day, when i ate idilis for 4 meal courses at a stretch, as my mother had packed it for our this train journey to chennai, and bye the end of the train journey, i was like almost puking at the sight of it, but now till recently, i was ready to pay the Rs 15 for a idli at hotel Prashanth. Then, came the goddess in the form of a new bhawan canteen, and now i've been paying Rs5, 10 for each vada, upma&dosa, i've been eating, or rather devouring. The same vada, which i would have surely not eaten having seen its pitiable condition, in south india,Is being relished by me now. The irony of this is so sickening.. as i have read in one of my english text books.

The second SI girls,
the north indians have a common misconception that all south indian girls are black, and moti, firstly this is not true at all. At least in Cochin and Chennai, the percentage of non-wheatish females are less, agreed but not all, and there also exists a category called a 'black/brown beauty', In fact i still remember a particular beauty contest i was watching, when i was maybe in 9-10th std, and this one particular african woman from tanzania something won the contest. I was so impressed by the beauty of her, her sharp features, and the confidence in her. And if you still don't agree, i would recommend you see a picture of my sister, http://www.orkut.com/Profile.aspx?uid=7974095437283799847, and you will notice that she is fair enough!,
Coming to the main point, the main quality that i miss about south indian girls is their behaviour towards men, the girls here consider themselves to be superior, it's more free down south, they flirt as much as you do, and they respond to you as much as they do to you, i don't know if this is just restricted to IIT roorkee, where the sex ratio is worse than haryana villages, and that the girls and being picky! But still, situation is heartening for the boys here.

Thats enough for now i guess, will post a continuation of this afterwards..

My Auli trip

Auli, a 20 minutes ropeway ride from Joshimath, which is 11 hours trip from roorkee, on the way to Badrinath, is an excellent skiing resort.
We started on Friday morning, at 5:30pm, bunking the days class. I had a night-out the previous day, fearing that i would not get up. Hence I slept almost all the way up, in the bus.
We reached at around 6 pm. At joshimath, we spend the night playing, and stuff.
The next morning, we took the 20 min ropeway ride, ( the highest and longest in India, second highest in the world). After reaching the base, we had to walk up again, a tiring 50 min upward walk. There, no words would really explain the fun we had with the snow. We slid in the snow, made snowmans, skiied, and what not. Then at around 5 pm we returned.
That evening, we went to the lakshminarayan temple there, the place where they keep the idol, Murthi , of the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples during winter. We unfortunately missed the Sankracharya Cave, which I had seen the last time I came here along with My parents.
The next morning we left for Roorkee and came Back in the evening.
Here are some photos,
